Why We Care

Chronic wounds represent a large and growing threat to public health. In the U.S. alone, chronic wounds impact more than 6.5 million people. As the population ages, that burden is projected to increase – negatively impacted by rising healthcare costs and the growing incidences of diabetes and obesity.

At Acelity, we help improve the lives of patients through innovation. We are also researching and documenting the value of our products in terms of individual and public benefit. This research helps to inform policy – and decision-makers by providing a systematic way to evaluate treatment alternatives.

Innovative Products

Innovation has been integral to Acelity for 60 years. We hold more than 2,700 patents worldwide, and continue to increase that number by about 100 every year. Acelity works in close partnership with the medical community to deliver products that are designed to help speed healing around the world. This involves drawing upon decades of experience with patients and their caregivers as well as our own understanding of wound biology and pathophysiology.
